Objective

With a foundation rooted in international vision and social responsibility, the department focuses on nurturing students in professional accounting practices and information skills. Supplementary training includes taxation practice, corporate governance, investment analysis, finance and foreign language proficiency, with the goal of cultivating accounting professionals who are well-rounded - possessing expertise, global perspectives, technological fluency, humanistic qualities, a spirit of service learning and ethical professionalism. Specifically, the educational objective is as follows:

Graduate Program Educational Objectives

The graduate program aims to cultivate high-level accounting and taxation professionals who possess a global perspective, proficiency in information technology, and a comprehensive understanding of contemporary corporate governance and tax practices.

The program integrates accounting and taxation learning while emphasizing the combination of theory and practice.

Built upon core courses in Accounting and Taxation, the curriculum incorporates three major themes — Internationalization, Information Technology and Intellectual Capital, and Corporate Governance and Tax Practices.

 

Curriculum Features

  • Internationalization Courses:
    International Tax Planning, Seminar on International Accounting Standards, Seminar on Cross-Strait Accounting and Taxation, Accounting and Tax Issues of Derivative Financial Instruments, and related topics.

  • Information Technology and Intellectual Capital Courses:
    Intellectual Capital Accounting and Tax Issues, Seminar on Intelligent Accounting and Financial Decision Support Systems, Seminar on Corporate Information Supply Chain and XBRL Technology, Computer Auditing and Inspection, and related courses.

  • Corporate Governance and Tax Practice Courses:
    Securities Market Systems and Practices, Seminar on Corporate Governance, Cost Management Analysis and Performance Evaluation, Internal Control and Auditing, Nonprofit Organization Accounting and Tax Issues, Property Tax Systems and Practices, Business Tax Systems and Practices, Tax Auditing and Administrative Remedies, among others.

Through the study of these courses, the program seeks to integrate theory with practice and to develop advanced professionals equipped with analytical and critical thinking abilities.

 

Department History

1968 - Established the Five-Year Junior College Day Program in Accounting and Statistics, commonly referred to as “Accounting and Statistics Program,” marking the department’s founding.

1973 - Expanded with the launch of the Two-Year Junior College Evening Program in Accounting and Statistics.

2003 - Transitioned to a four-year bachelor's degree system, founding the Department of Accounting Information in both the Day Division and the Continuing Education Division.

2009 - Introduced the two-year bachelor's program for working professionals (Evening Division).

2010 - Founded the independent Graduate Institute of Accountancy and Taxation.

2012 - Added a Two-Year Undergraduate Division in the Day Division.

2014 - Reorganized to integrate the undergraduate program and the Graduate Institute of Accountancy and Taxation into one unified department.

2015 - Applied to launch the Industry-Academe Collaboration Track for the Four-Year Undergraduate Division.

2018 - Applied to launch the Master of Accountancy and Taxation (MAT) - Industrial Graduate Program.

2023 - Submitted a proposal for the Master’s Industrial Co-op Program in ESG and Digital Carbon Management.

To date, more than fifty graduating classes have successfully entered various industries, reflecting the department’s ongoing commitment to nurturing outstanding accounting professionals.
